Students from Our Lady and St Bede Catholic Academy in Stockton recently took part in an inspiring Resilience Expedition in the Lake District, enjoying an unforgettable day of challenge, teamwork and personal growth.
A group of 13 pupils travelled to Keswick to take part in the expedition with Trekking Tom, where they completed a 7.6km hike through a variety of landscapes, including woodland, fellside and lakeshore terrain.
Pushing Beyond Comfort Zones
Throughout the walk, pupils faced challenging conditions and demanding terrain while taking in the stunning scenery of the Lake District.
The expedition provided an opportunity for students to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new challenges and develop their resilience in a supportive environment.
Building Character Through Adventure
While completing the hike was an achievement in itself, the day was about far more than the distance covered.
Students demonstrated determination, confidence and teamwork throughout the expedition, supporting one another and encouraging their peers every step of the way. New friendships were formed, barriers were overcome and pupils discovered strengths they may not have realised they possessed.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Experiences such as the Resilience Expedition play an important role in developing character, confidence and independence beyond the classroom.
Staff were incredibly proud of the maturity, perseverance and positive attitude shown by all 13 participants, who represented the academy exceptionally well.
